BOTOX® – Injection Treatment for Wrinkles – Houston, TX
ABOUT BOTOX INJECTIONS
To assist in aging gracefully, and to prevent facial wrinkles and lines from forming on the top portion of the face, Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Anthony Nikko, is proud to offer BOTOX to individuals seeking facial rejuvenation. This injectable procedure provides outstanding results and is very common among both men and women. BOTOX can make a significant enhancement to static lines, which are made from expressive movement from the muscles contracting on the forehead and around the eyes. The lines disappear as the face relaxes, but dynamic folds can still exist. BOTOX is a clean and purified strain of botulinum toxin (type A) that temporarily does not allow the movements of the facial muscles. To soften these dynamic wrinkles, BOTOX is injected, which smoothens the skin. BOTOX injections are most commonly positioned between the eyebrows, the Crow’s feet, and across the forehead. IDEAL CANDIDATES
BOTOX is great for individuals who desire to soften the noticeability of dynamic lines and wrinkles on their face without surgery. BOTOX can also be used as a preventative treatment, as well, even if you do not show signs of aging, but you find yourself making facial expressions. It’s a terrific nonsurgical treatment if you are frustrated by forehead lines or parallel lines between the brows. It’s also a great treatment for the area of lines around the eyes. If you have deeper lines, a filler product may be more suitable. In addition, if you are over the age of 50 with sagging skin and widespread wrinkles, you may be considered for a facelift. A surgical facelift procedure offers a more dramatic result, and is longer lasting. However, at our office, we also offer eyelid surgery and brow lifts as great facial rejuvenation options.

PROCEDURE TECHNIQUES
BOTOX treatments are performed as an outpatient procedure conveniently in our office. If it is your first time to visit us for BOTOX, we typically perform the injection at the same appointment as your consultation. You will be asked to make several facial expressions with the upper face, like squinting, frowning, etc., which will allow us to visualize where the injections should be placed. The treatment area will be cleansed and the BOTOX will be applied with a fine needle, followed by gentle compressions placed to help minimize discomfort and bruising. Patients may ask for an ice pack or numbing cream to make their treatment feel more comfortable, but this typically is unnecessary. BOTOX treatments typically take about 10 – 15 minutes, then patients are able to resume their normal routine as soon as they feel able.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After the procedure, patients can get back to their regular routine, however, strenuous activity should be skipped for at least one day. Patients are also asked to sleep with their head elevated for the first night and to not touch their face, which may accidentally spread the treatment to other areas. The treated areas of the face may be slightly swollen, bruised, or red for 2 – 3 days after the procedure, although most patients will not develop any lasting or serious side effects from injectable treatments. In many patients, it typically takes about 5 – 7 days before the full effects of BOTOX can be seen. The results usually last 3 – 4 months. Our patients who receive BOTOX for the first time, are so happy after their treatment and excited after seeing their results that we almost always continue to see them every few months for their touch-ups. We enjoy having our patients return each time as we become a partner in helping them keep their face looking and feeling rejuvenated and smooth!
