Rhinoplasty Harmonizes the Face

Jul 5, 2018

Rhinoplasty is the medical terminology for nose reshaping or what is commonly referred to as a nose job. Because the nose is the most prominent feature on the face, having a nose that is proportional to the facial features and one that is shapely defines the face. Whether a patient suffered an injury or is simply unsatisfied with the nose s/he was born with, rhinoplasty can make all the difference. During rhinoplasty surgery, the structure of patient’s nose is contoured by removing, adding to, and/or otherwise reshaping the underlying cartilage and bone. To reach the inside structure of the nose, small incisions are made which are not visible following the surgery. After the procedure, a splint is usually placed in the nose to add stability and provide protection to the newly contoured nose. Recovery requires about a week, and the patient should expect some swelling and bruising, so this is not the procedure to have the two weeks before your wedding or high school reunion.
