Otoplasty (Ear Pinback)

Having ears that are disproportionate to the rest of your head and body can mask some of your true beauty. Children in adolescent and teen years become very aware of their ears and try to hide protruding ears with their hair or wear hats that mask the shape and size. Ears that stick out or ears that are overly large can be corrected with an ear surgery procedure. Otoplasty or ear pinback surgery can help restore your ears to a more natural shape and size.

Otoplasty (Ear Pinback) Before and After Photos

How does an ear pinback or Otoplasty procedure work?

Ear pinback or an Otoplasty procedure is performed under I.V. sedation and takes about two hours to complete. An incision will be made behind the ear to expose the cartilage. Dr. Nikko will then sculpt the cartilage and bend it back towards the head. Non-removable sutures will be used to help maintain the new shape. On occasion, Dr. Nikko will remove a piece of cartilage to provide a more natural-looking ear fold when the surgery is complete.

How long will it take me to recover from my ear procedure? What is the recovery like?

One week after your ear procedure Dr. Nikko will remove your sutures. Patients may resume regular activities once the sutures have been removed.
