IPL Photofacial® Rejuvenation

As a result of prolonged exposure to the sun or accelerated exposure to ultraviolet light from tanning beds, patients may begin to see red or brown skin discolorations that make them appear older. IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatments at Nikko Cosmetic Surgery can reduce and even eliminate skin discolorations, red complexions, fine lines and wrinkles and irregular pigmentation. The advanced non-invasive IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatment utilizes intense pulse light to gently correct pigmentation problems with minimal discomfort. The redness and flushing associated with rosacea can be reduced 80 to 90 percent. IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation program was designed to treat the full face, neck, chest and hands

IPL Photofacial Before and After Photos

How do IPL photofacial rejuvenation treatments work?

Today's new light technology delivers precise dosages of energy through your skin's surface. Light energy is gently delivered at specific settings through a special handpiece to targeted areas. Levels of energy specific to your treatment are used to maximize your improvement. Once delivered, the light energy is absorbed by the targeted damaged tissue.
The light energy stimulates the production of collagen. As the new collagen forms, it softens the appearance of aging skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are decreased. The redness associated with rosacea can be dramatically reduced. Treatments are spaced out at three week intervals.

How many treatments will I need to achieve my best results?

Are IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatments painful?

Tolerance to pain varies from patient to patient. However, most patients describe the sensation to be like the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the specially designed IPL Photofacial® handpiece. If you have a low tolerance for pain, Dr. Nikko may recommend a topical anesthesia. After treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatments?

Most patients can benefit from an IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatment. However, the best candidates are those patients that have experienced damaged skin from overexposure to the sun, red or extreme flushed faces, hyperpigmentation, age spots and enlarged pores.

Are IPL photofacial rejuvenation treatments safe?

The advanced IPL Photofacial® system is one of the safest non-invasive cosmetic procedures available to cosmetic surgeons. Energy producing light systems have been used safely for millions of treatments worldwide. IPL Photofacial® system treats only the targeted tissues thus minimizing the possibility of damaging surrounding tissue. Patients may notice some bruising or redness in and around the targeted areas.

What results can I expect from my IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatments?

After only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots will fade. Pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size. These improvements will steadily increase with each treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.

What is the recovery from my IPL Photofacial® rejuvenation treatment like?

Post-operative discomfort is almost nonexistent. After treatment with most light systems, the treated skin may appear a little flushed and capillaries may seem to be more visible. The flushed look soon fades away, and the capillaries appear to vanish, leaving the skin looking younger. It's that simple.
Following any treatment, you should follow Dr. Nikko's instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen.
