Liposuction Before and After Photos

What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure to actually remove unwanted localized deposits of fat cells from the body. Liposuction is designed to reshape the body to a more natural body contour. A suction tube is inserted through a tiny incision in the natural creases of the body and fat cells extracted by vacuum. In the hands of a skilled cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Nikko unwanted fat deposits can be quickly and safely removed leaving an overall balanced body contour. To learn more about the many advanced liposuction procedures available to help you look your best contact Nikko Cosmetic Surgery today.

What is the Tumescent technique?

The Tumescent Liposuction technique combines large volumes of saline solution, local anesthesia, and adrenaline that are infused into the fatty area being treated to cause swelling and suspend fat cells in the solution. Once fat cells have been suspended, Dr. Nikko will insert a small tube, commonly referred to as a cannula, that is connected to a vacuum machine, superficially under the skin. The cannula is inserted into the fatty tissue through tiny incisions hidden in the natural creases of the body. Once the cannula has been properly inserted Dr. Nikko gently moves it around under the skin and suctions away unwanted fat cells.

How do I know if I am a candidate for Liposuction?

Anyone can benefit from Liposuction even the well-toned athlete. Not all fat cells respond to diet and exercise. In addition, lifestyle choices, genetics, age and environmental changes all contribute to the accumulation of unwanted fat deposits in the body. If you are in good health, have realistic expectations and are thoroughly aware of the benefits and risk associated with surgery, you are a good candidate for Liposuction. If you exercise and still have trouble achieving that well-proportioned body contour, Liposuction might be an option for you.

What areas on the body respond best to Liposuction?

Areas of the body with the most accumulation of fat deposits generally respond best to Liposuction. However, almost any targeted area of the body will respond well to Liposuction when used as an overall body contouring procedure. Areas of most concern for women include thighs, hips, buttocks, stomach, knees, lower leg, cheek, neck, arms, and double chin. Liposuction options for men include the breast (reduction), abdomen (tummy and love handles), face and neck.

How much weight can I expect to lose from a Liposuction procedure?

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure. While it is true that removing large amounts of fat deposits in problem areas of the body will result in weight loss, the overall goal of a Liposuction procedure is to refine and contour the body resulting in an overall balanced body proportion. Dr. Nikko will discuss with you your Liposuction options and help you to set realistic goals for your procedures. Many patients report improved self-esteem and confidence as a benefit of Liposuction. At Nikko Cosmetic Surgery we invite you to review our extensive library of before and after images that can help you decide the Liposuction procedure that best fit your specific body needs.

I understand that with Liposuction fat cells are removed. Are the results permanent?

You are born with a certain amount of fat cells in your body that after puberty stop creating fat cells. Once fat cells have been removed from the body they will not return. The results are permanent. However, if you do not commit to certain lifestyle changes associated with diet and exercise the remaining fat cells in your body can increase in size resulting in localized excess fat deposits.

Will I need a second procedure?

Most patients are thrilled with the dramatic results that a Liposuction procedure provides that is why it is one of the most widely requested cosmetic surgery procedures. Patients that use Liposuction as a way to "jump-start" a fitness program usually continue to refine and reshape their body and often times look to additional Liposuction procedures to fine tune certain areas of the body resistant to diet and exercise.

Can Liposuction get rid of cellulite?

Liposuction is not a treatment for cellulite. Currently there is no proven method to rid the body of cellulite. Liposuction can help to improve the appearance of cellulite after fat cells have been removed.

What improvements to my skin and existing skin conditions can I expect?

While liposuction will give you a dramatic improvement in your overall body contour, it will not correct or eliminate existing dimples, ripples or stretch marks you may have had prior to surgery. The use of smaller cannulas allows the fibrous connections between your skin and body to remain. These connections will contract over time. As a result, excessive skin folds are so rare that many patients avoid the necessity for surgical skin excision by having excellent results with liposuction alone.

What can I expect the recovery process for Liposuction to be like?

Recovery from Liposuction depends on the number of procedures and problem areas targeted by Dr. Nikko. Generally you can expect to recover in the privacy of your own home. After a few days you should be able to resume normal activities while gradually increasing your activities as tolerated. Everyone tolerates pain at different levels. Paying attention to your body’s response to pain is one of the best ways to ensure a fast and safe recovery. Dr. Nikko will most likely recommend a compression or snug fitting garment to wear over the treated areas to facilitate the healing process. At Nikko Cosmetic Surgery we are always here to help should you need any specialized care or pain medication to make your recovery as comfortable as possible.
